Brandon Asher is the Board President of LGBTQ+ Rolla, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to building an affirming, supportive, and visible community in Rolla, Missouri and the surrounding area. Founded with the goal of creating safe and welcoming spaces for LGBTQ+ individuals and allies, the organization has grown into a vital community resource offering connection, visibility, and support.
Through free programs, community events, advocacy, and outreach, LGBTQ+ Rolla works to foster belonging and empowerment for people of all ages and backgrounds. The organization operates a community center that provides resources, support groups, educational opportunities, and inclusive activities designed to strengthen community ties and improve access to affirming spaces.
LGBTQ+ Rolla is also the organizer of Rolla Pride, which has grown from a small gathering of approximately 50 attendees in its first year to a celebration welcoming more than 600 attendees just five years later โ a clear marker of the region's growing need for inclusive spaces and meaningful connection.
As a donation-funded nonprofit, LGBTQ+ Rolla relies on community partnerships and support to expand its impact. Brandon serves as the public face of that work โ connecting donors, volunteers, board candidates, and community members to the org's mission inside PCN and beyond.
The practice
What partnering with Brandon and LGBTQ+ Rolla looks like.
Connector-first leadership. If you need a resource, a referral, or a community in rural Missouri, Brandon knows where to point you โ or how to build it.
Affirming community infrastructure for rural Missouri.
LGBTQ+ Rolla operates a community center, runs free programs and support groups, hosts Rolla Pride, and offers a stable, visible presence for queer people and allies across the Greater Rolla area.
Who Brandon wants in the room.
LGBTQ+ folks in the Rolla / mid-Missouri area looking for community or resources. Allies wanting to volunteer or support. Donors and sponsors interested in funding rural Pride work. Board candidates and businesses seeking inclusion partnerships.
When to send people elsewhere.
LGBTQ+ Rolla is a community nonprofit โ not a clinical, legal, or financial provider. For those services, refer through the PCN concierge to the right specialist.
Visibility where it's rarest.
Rural queer life is often invisible. LGBTQ+ Rolla refuses that โ building safe space, programs, and a public Pride celebration in a place where they were told it couldn't happen.
